There are several new features available in the new RWE.org
First, we have provided both a static menu-driven way of accessing material and a more dynamic drop-down system.
Second, when you move your cursor (mouse) to Complete Works (just above the image of Walden Pond), a series of drop-down menus will show the 12 volumes of the Centenary Edition. Move the cursor to a volume or a specific title.
When you click on a title, the text page will appear. You will be able to adjust text size using Control + or Text Size within the Edit menu of Internet Explorer or Firefox.
You may also click on Complete Works to move to a page where the 12 volumes and their contents are listed. Each volume has its separate pages. Some may prefer this more static way of moving through the texts.
The menu items on the left will take you to various sections dealing with support elements within the site. Those familiar with the old site will find old friends and useful tools for exploring the life and work of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
HOW TO COPY AND PRINT MATERIALS
In general, the best way of taking text from the site is to use the copy/paste function in your browser. Just block the text you want and then use the Copy function in the Edit menu. You can then paste the material into your word processor or, in some cases, you can print it directly. Some printers will not have a Select function and will then print ALL the text, regardless of blocking. In this case, it's best to copy/paste into Word or WordPerfect.
When you choose a text (essay, poem or lecture) you will see two small symbols in the upper right corner of the page. One is the Print function and the other the Email function. If you click on Print, another window will open. That window will also have a Print icon in the upper right corner, which will present you with your printer functions.
If you are having trouble with selecting and printing text from the site, you may also call for HELP! from ad min or advisor in the Contact Us menu.
